Volunteers were on hand to explain the workings of a bee hive and answer questions on bee related queries. Visitors could taste honey and compare the taste of local honey to that of supermarket honey. There was wax provided to make candles. Children were helped and encouraged to make and colour bee masks and play bee related games. There were a number of children’s books on bees available to read, they are informative for adults as well as the explain the life cycle of a bee in simple terms. Finally there was local honey on sale. A large proportion of those who came had come specifically to attend the bee event .
