Visit to Hornby Castle gardens
On Thursday, 16th September a group of Friends, staff and volunteers from Judges Lodgings had a wonderful afternoon visit to Hornby Castle Gardens. A tour round the gardens was conducted by Caroline Battersby and afterwards we were treated to tea and cake on the terrace followed by a talk by Sue about the history of the castle which had been in Hornby since Norman times! She regaled us with interesting stories about previous owners of the castle with many interesting anecdotes. It was a very enjoyable outing, thanks to Susan Baternay for organising this event.
